Yves and Pierre aided in revolutionizing the fashion industry. Yves Saint Laurent was founded in 1961 in Paris, France.  Known for not only revolutionizing androgyny in women’s fashion but also one of the first houses to tap into the art industry by developing collections inspired by contemporary artist such as Mondrian, Warhol, and Van Gogh. Later in 2013 Hedi Slimane transformed the house name to Saint Laurent and pivoted the brands aesthetic to a western punk rock ‘n’ roll.
